Epworth Gardens is a year-round program to maintain, educate and have fun maintaining the Earth (both around Epworth and in your own space). Throughout the summer we may partner with other organizations to bring in speakers or do special projects in the gardens.
April 15 – June 3: Spring Garden Prep
Each Sunday during and after church, we will prepare the tools and things that are needed for planting the garden in the summer.
- April 29: Dedicate the materials and new plants in Worship; begin to build flat beds around 11:15 a.m.
- May 6: Continue building any beds that need finished
- May 13: “Dirt Day” Lay dirt for garden
- May 27: Put garden beds in ground and begin planting
June 10: Garden Party
12:30- 2 p.m.
We will kick off the Summer Garden program with snacks, games, an animal petting station and an official blessing and ribbon cutting for the gardens!
June 13 – September
We have three sessions a week focused on maintaining the gardens.
Weeding Wednesdays: Every Wednesday from 9:30 -11:30 a.m., school-aged kids are invited to join us for watering and weeding the gardens, plus a story, craft, games and a snack!
Fun Adult Fridays: Every Friday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. adults are welcome to help water and weed the garden, as well as perform any special projects that may be needed. Occasionally there may be a speaker or discussion included. Coffee will be provided.
Sunshining Sundays: After church from 12-1:30 p.m., all ages are welcome to water and weed the gardens and enjoy a snack – occasionally there will be a special speaker or project during these sessions.
